L. Bruce Mebine, O. D., owner

Dr. Bruce Mebine grew up in San Francisco in the Sunset District. He received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from the University of California at Berkeley. He took the practice over from his father, Dr. Loran Mebine, in 1969. He has been a clinical professor at the UC Berkeley School of Optometry since 1983. Dr. Mebine has served as president for the San Francisco Optometric Society, the Bay Area Optometric Council and the California Optometric Association. He is currently past Chair of the Board of Directors for Vision Service Plan. Dr. Mebine was named Optometrist of the Year in 1991 by the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry and Optometrist of the Year in 1998 by the California Optometric Association. In his spare time Dr. Mebine enjoys his five grandchildren, fencing, photography, and sailing.

Elio Polsinelli Jr., O.D.

Dr. Elio Polsinelli Jr. was born and raised in New York. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry, and a Bachelor of Arts from Adelphi University. Dr. Polsinelli received additional optometric training at the Oklahoma City Area Indian Health Service where he was exposed to hospital-based multidisciplinary optometry. He provided urgent eye care services and extensive management of patients with diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma, dry eye, and cataracts. Dr. Polsinelli finished his training at the Pediatric division of SUNY College of Optometry where he gained knowledge of the diagnoses and treatment of children's vision and eye problems. He was awarded membership into Alpha Epsilon Delta and Beta Beta Beta. Dr. Polsinelli enjoys cooking, running, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Marilyn Overbay, Office Manager

Marilyn has been working as an optometric assistant/office manager for 40 years! She is a sister of Dr. Mebine and has been working for him the last 19 years. She knows how to do everything in the office and coordinates all patient care in the office and makes sure that your visual and eyecare needs are met and that your visit is a pleasurable one. Marilyn is especially proud of her three grandsons and one grandaughter!

Marc Milechman, Optician

Marc, our Optician, was born and raised in New York. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from City University of New York. Marc moved to San Francisco 11 years ago. He has spent 30 years in the optical industry, including managing both retail and wholesale operations. Marc's extensive experience provides him with a unique perspective when ordering new frames for inventory and selecting appropriate lens styles for patients. Marc particularly enjoys helping patients integrate their visual needs with fashion. His hobbies are reading, tennis, and traveling.

Joann Tawasha, Optometric Assistant

Joann was born and raised in San Francisco. She is a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School and received her Ophthalmic Technician certificate from Bryman College. She has worked for L. Bruce Mebine and Associates since 1997. Her primary responsibilities are assisting Drs. Mebine and Polsinelli, dispensing glasses, frame styling and lens design and contact lens training. She enjoys being part of the team that takes care of all our patient's needs.
